Your journey begins by crossing the High Atlas Mountains, offering spectacular views at every turn. You’ll visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which will give you a glimpse into southern Moroccan culture. Then, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa” and the gateway to the Sahara Desert.
Explore Morocco’s most stunning canyon before heading to the Erg Chebbi Dunes in Merzouga. In addition to Camel trekking Sahara and a magical night under the stars, you’ll witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Finally, you’ll travel from the Merzouga Desert to Fes, passing through the scenic Ziz Valley, home to hundreds of palm trees and traditional Berber villages.
Your 4-day desert tour Marrakech to Fes begins with a morning departure from your accommodation in Marrakech. You’ll drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains, passing traditional Berber villages and enjoying breathtaking views of the mountains, with stops at scenic viewpoints for photos.
Next, you’ll arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, where you’ll explore the historic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. This iconic kasbah has been featured in several famous films.
After lunch, you’ll continue your journey towards the Dades Gorges, passing through Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses. Upon arrival at Dades Gorges, you’ll have the chance to see the famous “monkey toes” rock formations before heading to your accommodation for the night.
On the second day of Best Morocco desert adventure (Marrakech to Fes) ou will drive along the Todra River, surrounded by palm groves and Berber villages, heading towards the Todra Gorge in Tinghir, one of the most breathtaking canyons in the world. From there, continue your journey to the Merzouga Desert.
Before reaching the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, your driver/guide may suggest a visit to a traditional Berber shop, where you can take pictures in a Berber outfit for free. You may also purchase items, such as scarves, which are recommended for the desert, although buying anything is entirely optional. The shop’s main aim is to promote Berber culture, and you can inform your driver/guide if you’d prefer to skip this stop.
Upon arriving in Merzouga, you’ll have the chance to go on a camel ride into the desert to witness the stunning sunset over the dunes and try sandboarding.
Your evening will be spent at a luxury desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and experience the atmosphere of the Sahara at night.
An early wake-up is highly recommended on the third day of our Marrakech to Fes Sahara tour to witness a stunning sunrise from the nearest dune. After a delicious breakfast at the camp, you’ll begin your exploration of the Merzouga desert. Your 4×4 SUV will take you to the Berber Nomads living behind the dunes, where you’ll learn about their way of life and how they have thrived in the middle of the desert, along with insights into their rich culture.
You will also visit the secluded, abandoned village of Mefis, enjoy a traditional Gnawa music performance in the village of Khamlia, and, if the season permits, visit the Lake of Birds.
After lunch, we will head to your Riad, where you can check-in and enjoy some free time. You may choose to swim or take a leisurely walk to the nearby dunes. In the evening, a delicious dinner will be served, followed by an overnight stay at your Riad. If you prefer, you also have the option to spend the night once more at the desert camp.
On the final day of our 4 days tour from marrakech to fes we will begin our journey to Fes. Along the way, we’ll stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. Lunch will be served in Midelt or at a location along the route. You may also have the chance to spot Barbary apes in the cedar forest of the Middle Atlas Mountains. We will make a stop in Ifrane for a short break before continuing on to Fes. Your 4-day desert tour Marrakech to Fes will conclude with a drop-off at your Riad in Fes.
