The Fes to Marrakech desert tour 5 days begins with an early pick-up from your accommodation or the airport in Fes. From there, we head south through Imouzzer, making our way to Ifrane, known for its cool climate, snow, and alpine-style homes—hence its nickname, the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Next, we visit the cedar forest, home to the Barbary Macaques, where you can feed the monkeys as you explore. Afterward, we continue our Extended Sahara trip Morocco to Midelt for a lunch break. We then drive towards the Sahara Desert, passing through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and following the Ziz River.
In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara. Here, you will switch to Camel trek Sahara (5 days) across the vast desert. A stop will be made on a high dune to watch the breathtaking sunset. We then continue to a Luxury desert camp tour (5 days), where you can enjoy traditional Berber drumming and dance around the campfire under a starlit sky.
On the second day of your Private Sahara adventure Fes to Marrakech, you’ll return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver will be waiting. The day is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region, home to many incredible sights, from sand dunes and wild lakes to ancient mines, fossil areas, and beautiful oases—perfect for a variety of outdoor activities.
Our Fes to Marrakech desert journey begins with an off-road drive to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, we’ll stop to visit the nomads in their traditional handmade tents, where you can learn about their lifestyle and enjoy a cup of Berber tea.
Next, we head to Khamlia village, where you’ll experience Gnaoua music and dance performances. The village’s inhabitants hail from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Afterward, enjoy some free time for lunch at a local restaurant. We’ll then take a stroll through the palm groves, followed by a short drive to visit Merzouga’s wild lake, also known as Flamingo Lake.
On the third day of our Luxury desert camp tour (5 days) we depart from the desert to visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains a significant trading hub in the region, with its bustling souk coming to life on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After exploring the Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud, where we will visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. Next, we drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, making our way to the Todra Gorges. Carved by the Todra River, these impressive gorges create a stunning canyon with towering red cliffs, making it a popular destination for rock climbers.
Feel free to wander through the gorges and take in the breathtaking scenery. We’ll have free time for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades. Along the way, we’ll stop to see the “monkey fingers” rock formation and enjoy a view from a mountain overlook of the Dades Valley.
continue our Fes to Marrakech desert tour 5 days to Kalaa Magouna to explore the Rose Valley, renowned for its annual Rose Festival held in May. During this event, locals showcase a variety of rose products, including perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. After some free time for lunch, we drive through the palm groves of Skoura and visit the historic Amridil Kasbah. We then proceed to Ouarzazate, where we’ll visit the film studios known for hosting famous movie shoots, as well as the Taourirt Kasbah.
On the final day of our Best Morocco desert tour we depart to visit the renowned Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified village designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Kasbah has featured in numerous films, such as *Gladiator*, *Alexander*, *The Mummy*, and TV series like *Game of Thrones*.
